Dallas

I thought I'd take a quick trip to Dallas to museum hop with my friend Doug over the holidays.

I figured that if I was lucky I might get some warm weather.

Of course I did end up flying out during a snow storm.

Oops.

But, I was extremely lucky and while my flight was delayed, it did eventually make it out.

The weather in Dallas was actually all over the place, as they did not escape the dreaded Polar Vortex either.

But, just as I hoped we got one beautiful 68 degree day,

which I guess will have to hold me for at least a few more months.

By the way, all these photos were taken with my Samsung Galaxy 4.

I am really very impressed with it.

Snowy Streets 2

It isn't looking like a good winter for snow fans.

So I guess it's just as well that I gave up skiing years ago.

But I do still root for at least one good photogenic snowfall per season.

That means there has to be at least a foot of snow.

So far I've been out of luck.

Since I am sort of missing it, I thought I'd dig out some photos from the archives.

Here are some more shots of the Upper East Side from January 2011,

our snowiest January ever.

It's definitely going to be hard to beat this one for sheer beauty.

But February is usually our snowiest month, so you never know.

Here are some previous blogs from that year.

Embroidery: Rialto Bridge

This piece is from a new series I just completed called Venice Take 2.  The reason it's take 2 is that I originally created the collages in 2005 after my trip to Venice.  But a few years ago when I began adding embroidery to my collages I realized that this set would look even better with a bit of embroidery to help draw your eye to key parts of the piece.  So, I decided to rework them.

Here's the original photo of the Rialto Bridge.

And here's the pen and ink drawing of the Jester mask.

Enjoy!
