Digital Collages: Amsterdam Tulips

Given their close association,

I couldn't resist the urge to combine

some of my favorite tulip photographs

with some of my favorite photographs from Amsterdam.

One of my best memories from our first trip was sitting in the evenings

with my husband in a strategic spot on a bend in the Herengracht Canal

and watching the cruise ships sail past.

As we were watching them they were watching us.

And in some cases taking photos,

I know they were, because I saw the flashes going off.

It's funny to think of being in all their photo albums.

But I guess we complimented the scene perfectly.

San Francisco

I love San Francisco.

It has beautiful buildings,

great views,

delicious seafood

and cable cars.

And Chinatown.

Of course I did end up with food poisoning once after eating in Chinatown.

But hey, that happens.

I'd like to go back again sometime and take even more photographs.

But in the meantime here are some I took between focus groups back in 1994.

Ciao,

Embroidery: Black Irish

Yesterday was my husband's birthday.  In his honor I thought I'd post a portrait I did of him.  It is called Black Irish.

As you might have guessed he is 3/4 Irish.  Therefore it made sense to combine this portrait that I took of him.

With this photo of a Celtic cross that one of us took on our trip to Ireland.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EDWARD!!!

Love

Greenwich Village Tulips

A few weeks ago I read that the spring bulbs would be gorgeous this year.

Apparently in order for them to look their best, they need 5 weeks of weather below 35 degrees.

This year we had 7 1/2 weeks.

(Didn't you know there just had to be a silver lining after such a challenging winter?)

We have also had a slow start to spring so it has been difficult to judge when things would begin to bloom.

Well clearly the tulips are peaking this week and they are fabulous.

These beauties are from a little park in Greenwich Village.

It's amazing they can look this lovely without being lit by sunlight.

And, since I didn't have my camera with me, I took these photos with my Samsung Galaxy S4.

I continue to be impressed with that phone.
