Tulip Mania in Manhattan

This was a great year for tulips. 

Clearly the weather gods favored them. 

It seems like almost every tree pit put on a pretty display. 

This one looks like a bouquet!

Red is still the most favored color, but plenty of other options were available if you aren’t a fan.

In a bit of a timing oops, the ones on Park Avenue this year did not start blooming until after the cherry trees had finished.

Meanwhile, the Stonewall National Monument in Greenwich Village decided to just mix all the colors together –

nicely complimenting the pride flag.

 But mostly it’s a matter of coordinating the tulips with the never-ending construction.

Perhaps that explains the preference for red.

Tulips 6

 

I’m so crazy about tulips that I was surprised to see that I haven’t posted any new pics of them since 2019. 

That may have had something to do with a fungus that was attacking tulips in the area. 

I overheard the folks at Central Park saying they were going to have to take a year off and just plant daffodils. 

 

I believe that Brooklyn Botanic Garden did the same. 

And then – Covid.

But apparently the threat is over and the tulips are back in all their glory. (The orange ones glow!) 😉

These are from Brooklyn, my favorite place to photograph them -

now easier to get to thanks to the Q train. 

Do you believe that this is a tulip?
