1964 World's Fair

The 1964 World's Fair was held in Flushing Meadow Park, in Queens, NY.

And yes, I went,

although my memories of it are limited since I was only four at the time.

A few remnants of the festivities remain.

While the Unisphere is still in pretty good shape and very photogenic,

the same cannot be said about the NY State Pavilion.

While it is very photogenic, it is also clearly suffering from 50 years of neglect.
Since Philip Johnson was one of its architects (and it really is quite lovely) it deserves better.

Thanks to a featured role in Men in Black , the celebration of its anniversary on April 22, 2014 was oversubscribed and discussion of rehabilitation has ensued.

Hopefully someone will come up with an idea as creative as the High Line.

Here's a link to some blogs about the High Line...

Cheers
