In New
York this year we had our second warmest/third driest May.
Nobody
minded since it was such a welcome relief from the memories of our freezing
February.
While
the early warmth and drought was bad news for the bulbs, especially the irises,
it was good news for the roses.
I'm
sure that it kept the aphids away. (They don't like heat.)
So
when the roses peaked on schedule at the beginning of June, they were truly
spectacular.
Many
roses are rebloomers and continue to bloom all summer and fall, albeit at a
slower rate.
It's
one of the reasons that I like to grow roses.
As
long as you have plenty of sun they are pretty easy to deal with.
It's
those cool rainy summers that cause mold that are a problem.
But it
doesn't look like we are going to have to worry about that this summer.
Here
are some previous blogs about roses...
Enjoy!
