Since Edward is visiting Monaco this week,
I couldn't help but think about our visit in 1999.
I remember it as a tale of two cities.
The
area near the palace was classical European,
with lovely ornate creamy white buildings. Very quaint.
And a huge contrast to Monte Carlo which is over the top
glitzy,
somewhat reminiscent of Las Vegas.
I wonder if it has something to do with getting people to
gamble more.
But of course where Las Vegas is as flat as can be, Monaco
is filled with lovely hillside homes --
some undoubtedly worth millions.
Cheers!
