As the South Street Seaport continues
its transformation into a high end mall
the time has come to say goodbye
to The Peking.
It's been part of the New York
City scene since 1975, so it will be missed.
It was actually built in Hamburg
in 1911 and it is headed back there now.
The German Government is funding
a new museum for it -
The German Port Museum - in
Hamburg.
Seems appropriate.
Maybe we'll visit someday.
Edward has always wanted to go
there.
Don't go too soon though. It's in dry dock in Staten Island for the
winter.
Here's two previous blogs of the
seaport...
Bon Voyage!
