Puerto Rico

Edward and I had just starting dating when we visited Puerto Rico.  

We loved it for its historical buildings - most notably the fort - El Morro. 

Construction on the citadel and its walls began in 1539. 

And we also enjoyed El Yunque - the rain forest. 

We even got to see a pretty wicked storm. 

Downtown Old San Juan was quaint;

the Governor's Palace grand.  

And I even got in a little synchronized swimming.  You can see how impressed this guy was. :-)

Basically, everything you could hope for.

 And much closer than Europe.
