In honor of President Lincoln's birthday, I thought I would
post a set of photos from Gettysburg, PA.
If you haven't been there, it is well worth the trip.
They have kept the battle ground exactly as it was,
so that after you visit the excellent Gettysburg Diorama
and learn about the event,
you can go check it out live and see where the different
charges took place.
It really is fascinating.
As is the fact that Little Round Top, pictured below, hardly
seems high enough to have been as important as it ended up being.
And you can see why Pickett's Charge was a destined to be a
disaster. (Imagine trying to cross that
field while people were shooting at you from up here.)
The town is adorable too.
Cute historic inns and restaurants.
And
when you go you can thank Lincoln for being a great president.
Cheers!
