The reservoir runs from 85th Street to 97th Street in Central
Park.
The 1.58 mile track around it is a favorite with joggers,
including Ms. Onassis whose apartment overlooked it.
She won the eternal love of New Yorker's in 1975
when she saved the stunning Grand Central Station from
destruction at the beginning of the landmark movement.
She threatened to lie down in front of the bulldozers if
they tried to take it down!
My hero.
And everyone else's too, so in 1994 the Central Park
Reservoir was renamed in her honor.
Oh and did I mention that the best season to check it out
is in the spring when the cherry trees that surround it are in bloom?
There are two kinds - Yoshino and Kanzan.
Cheers!
