Last week was the New York City Marathon. It's a big day for the tribe.
Some New Yorkers and visitors come out to cheer their
friends.
When they do, you get to watch the meet and greet moment
when the runner arrives, gets a hug, takes a few photos, and then goes on their
way.
It's my favorite part.
And if you have a view, it's a chance to see your
neighbors. Hi Andrew!
But mostly it's about encouraging the runners.
Those that make it to Mile 17 by 1:30 are in pretty good
shape. But those that arrive around
2:30, not so much.
And anyone later than that really needs a cheer.
Luckily there are plenty of New Yorkers who are happy to do
that, since it makes the event more interactive and fun for them.
So next year, if you don't run, consider coming to watch. It's much easier to cheer!
