Quebec City feels a bit like a European city.
Probably because it was founded by the French in
1541.
It has quaint cobblestone streets, fanciful signs a
la Salzburg, and a castle - more or less.
That's the Chateau Frontenac of course. It's actually a hotel.
And no we didn't stay there. Although we did have lunch in the pretty
terrace restaurant.
Since it is in the upper town it towers over the
city.
You can also still see fragments of Quebec's city
wall. It's the only fortified city north
of Mexico where they still exist.
I don't recall having any communication issues so
people do speak English, even if French is their first language.
Probably the best thing about visiting is that it's
such a short flight when compared to visiting Europe.
And it is cool in the summer when NYC is in the
90's and sweaty.
Cheers!
