I saw a bit of Men In Black on tv the other day and it me think about the New York State Pavilion.
It appears that they began renovations in September 2019. First up, a new coat of paint in 2015.
Next they need to fix the electric to update the lighting.
Here are some pics taken at the beginning of 2020...
Looking at the photos of the fresh paint I find that I do indeed miss the rust. So I am very happy that I visited in 2014 before they repainted.
You really have to love the fact that the reason it survived at all was the fact that it was "too expensive to tear down!"
But in 2009 it was added to the Register of National Historic Places so that assured its survival.
I am sure that the success of the High Line didn't hurt either.
Interestingly, none of the current press mentions the contest or the garden idea so I am wondering if that has been dropped in favor of a restaurant and observation deck - which were part of the original design.
I guess time will tell.
