Oculus

What is Oculus you ask?  

 

It's the new transportation hub at the World Trade Center, which opened this year. 

 

It's stunning. 

Even on a cloudy day. 

But since it cost $3.9 billion it had better be. 

It was designed by Santiago Calatrava. 

And it soars 160 feet tall.

If you think it looks like a bird , you are right.  Santiago says it was inspired by a bird released from a child's hands. 

I just love the way it looks juxtaposed with the towers in the neighborhood. 

But I think most of the crowds were more interested in the mega mall underneath.
