Amherst Roof Garden

I was able to visit the Amherst roof garden over the Memorial Day weekend before it closed for the season.

Sadly we are pointing the building this summer so all outdoor space will be off limits for the duration.

Too bad.

The gardens are particularly beautiful this year.

They are extremely lush now.

And the boxes that contain the roses and irises are beautiful bouquets of different colors and textures.

The juxtaposition between the garden and the surrounding concrete creates a delightful contrast.

But the biggest surprise was that the carnations, which were planted as annuals years ago, are apparently so happy in their boxes that they have both turned into perennials and taken them over.

They really were just too cute.

Maybe next year they can be spread out to other boxes.

Here are some previous blogs about the Amherst garden...

Cheers!
