Middle-Earth

My nephew Jeffrey Lehrer is just back from a visit to Middle-Earth.

I asked him if I could share his photos in a guest blog and he agreed.

The location is formally known as the Hobbiton film set.

It is located near Matamata on New Zealand's north island.

The set was actually destroyed after the first film per an agreement to restore the land to its original state after filming.

But by the time the third film came around they realized the value of it as a tourist attraction.

So they restored it and added a restaurant and of course even more people went to check it out.

Wouldn't you?

Here's Jeffrey's sister Jessica proving that she is not a hobbit. :-)

Of course it is a 14 1/2 hour plane flight from Houston.  And a 17 hour time change so that might hold a few of us back.

Luckily Jeffrey went for us!

Thanks Jeffrey.
