US Botanic Garden

This spring/summer I haven't been taking my usual trips to the NYC gardens.

By the time I got my act together we were into our hot hazy 90 degree summer weather.

Not exactly my cup of tea.  So I dug into the achieves to get a flower fix.

I came across these pics when I pulled the ones from the Air & Space Museum in Washington D.C. to celebrate the moon landing.  Here's the link if you missed it...

They are from the U.S. Botanic Garden in Washington D.C.

It's a lovely collection, especially the lilies and orchids in the greenhouse.

It was founded in 1816.

Not surprisingly Thomas Jefferson was one of its biggest supporters.

But so were George Washington and James Madison.  No wonder it's so terrific.

Be sure to put it on your list the next time you visit. ;-)

Cheers!
