When
we visited family in San Diego last week,
we
just had to take a day off to visit the world famous San Diego Zoo.
It did
not disappoint.
It is
a beautiful place, built in part on hills so that the vegetation cascades down. This Great Blue Turaco took a liking to me
and called all his friends over for a photo-op. Awesome!
It
must be really spectacular when the flowers bloom.
Meanwhile
though it did drive my allergies a bit nuts!
The
big news of the day was the birth of a new baby hippo. He was less than 48 hours old when this pic
was taken with his mom. I don't think
they actually know if it is a boy or girl yet.
It's
always fun to catch a little feeding activity.
And
the big cats are stunning.
But they
don't have pandas anymore. They went
back to China last spring.
More
pics next week.
Ciao
