Magnolias at The Brooklyn Botanic Garden 3

In case you haven't heard, there's great news for fans of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

The evil real estate developers who wanted to build towers next to the garden that would have blocked the sun which shines on it, have been thwarted.

Thanks to a concerted effort from some very dedicated folks, the rezoning that would have been required to build the garden killing structures was rejected by Community Board 9.

Let's take a moment to call out Continuum Company and Lincoln Equities for their incredible stupidity and selfishness.

How dumb to you have to be to build fancy apartments overlooking the gardens that will kill the gardens.  Who will want those apartments then?  Oh right who cares as long as I make money now.  So silly of me to forget.

Check out this visual.

I took the photos in this blog  in the Magnolia Plaza which appears at the top of the map.

Yes.  If these people had their way they would have destroyed this for everyone.  Raspberries for you Ian Bruce Eichner.

But the good news, in addition to the CB9 vote, is that Eric Adams, who is likely to be NYC's next mayor is also against the development.

So for now the garden is safe and hopefully I'll get to visit next spring after taking a few years off for Covid.

It is one of my favorite places in New York.  And I miss it.
