Upper West Side

My nephew Ryan is visiting from North Carolina and he wanted to see the exterior of Tom's Restaurant, which is the stand-in for Monk's Cafe on Seinfeld.
So we headed to 112th Street on the Upper West Side for lunch.
It's not a neighborhood that I spend much time in, so it was a nice change of pace.
Around the corner from Tom's is The Cathedral of St. John the Divine.
It's actually the largest cathedral in the world - but a bit gloomy on the inside.
What caught our eye was The Peace Fountain,
a sculpture in the garden next to the cathedral.

It's by Greg Wyatt, and it depicts the conflict between good and evil. It's quite dramatic.

Another highlight of the day was that we got to take the new Q train for part of our trip. :-)

Here's some more pics from the 72nd Street Station...

Cheers!
