In
2008 when the market crashed, Manhattan was left with a bunch of empty
lots. In 2012 when things improved, the
building restarted.
Now,
we have lots of new interesting buildings springing up all over town. What a great photo op. :-)
First
up are the American Copper Buildings. They
are called that because they are clad in copper. It's not a very interesting look at this
point.
Over
time they will weather and turn green like the Statue of Liberty. I can't quite picture it.
But
what makes them special is their shapes, which are unique.
The
goal was to make the towers look like they are dancing with each other. And they do.
They
are joined together with a sky bridge.
The first one to be built in the city in 80 years.
It's
300 feet from the ground and 3 levels high.
A
photo online shows that there's a pool on one level and from the ground it
looks like there is a garden on top.
Pretty interesting.
According
to an article in The New York Times,
one of their fancier apartments was just rented by a doctor from NYU Hospital
for $14,100 a month. He was looking
forward to his 2 minute walk to work.
Here's
a link to an article about the buildings...
And
there's a picture of the pool on their website...
Enjoy!
