Tiffany at the New-York Historical Society

Years ago it was a Tiffany exhibit that drew me to the New-York Historical Society for my first visit.

I remember the exhibit as being quite large and comprehensive.

But as it turns out it was actually incomplete because their collection of Tiffany lamps is so large that they were unable to display them all one time.

In fact, due to their lack of space, they used to lend pieces out freely to other museums.

Given my interest in the collection, I am surprised that I managed to miss the fact that in 2017 they opened a new gallery capable of displaying all 100 lamps at once.

I am sure that the other museums are disappointed.

But their loss is our gain.  And the gallery couldn't be any more perfect.

It is stunningly beautiful.

And displays the Tiffany's to perfection.  From multiple angles.

The best part is that it is permanent so you can visit any time. :-)

Here are some previous blogs with the Tiffany's from the Queens Museum...

Cheers!
