Years
ago it was a Tiffany exhibit that drew me to the New-York Historical Society
for my first visit.
I remember
the exhibit as being quite large and comprehensive.
But as
it turns out it was actually incomplete because their collection of Tiffany
lamps is so large that they were unable to display them all one time.
In
fact, due to their lack of space, they used to lend pieces out freely to other
museums.
Given
my interest in the collection, I am surprised that I managed to miss the fact
that in 2017 they opened a new gallery capable of displaying all 100 lamps at
once.
I am
sure that the other museums are disappointed.
But
their loss is our gain. And the gallery
couldn't be any more perfect.
It is
stunningly beautiful.
And
displays the Tiffany's to perfection. From
multiple angles.
The
best part is that it is permanent so you can visit any time. :-)
