I went to the Columbus Day parade this year.
I haven't gone in a number of years.
I remember costumes and horses. But no horses in sight this year.
Some costumes though. :-)
It was also the world's slowest parade.
The wait between bands/floats was significant.
There were police scattered throughout the groups
presumably trying to keep everyone moving along, but it didn't really seem to
be working.
The weather was lovely and I was struck by the fact that
the trees in Central Park are starting to change. So pretty.
I met some tourists who said - "So this is for
Italians?" I smiled and said. "On Columbus Day we are all
Italians. On St. Patrick's Day we are
all Irish. New Yorker's love a good
party."
And so we do. Happy
Columbus Day!
Here's a blog from 2018's St. Patrick's Day Parade...
Cheers!
