In an
effort to create more outdoor spaces for New Yorkers to gather in while we
continue to avoid indoor activities, the city has greened the courtyard at
Lincoln Center.
They
laid down sod, creating slopes for people to lie on,
chairs
for them to sit in
and
even cute little green tables.
Of
course plenty of people were willing to try out the new space. Especially since it includes a place to pick
up snacks and a restroom.
And a
little library of books from The NY Public Library for the Performing Arts.
Outdoor
performances in the space have already begun and will continue through September
2021. I bet it will be really nice on a
warm summer evening.
But on
a hot summer afternoon, it's fatal flaw is obvious - a lack of shade. So people gathered under the few shady spots
they could find.
It did
keep the numbers down, as most people opted to sit under the trees in the
courtyard in front of the Vivian Beaumont Theatre instead.
But I
am sure that there will be many people checking it out for the next three
months. You can read more about it

And, here's
a link to a blog about the Jerome Robbins exhibit at Lincoln Center. It was one of my favorites...
