If it’s August it’s water lily time!
These flashy little beauties make me smile even in the heat
of the summer.
Although I really can’t complain this year since NYC is doing
so much better than so many other places.
July 2023 was the hottest July on record globally.
It was 108 in Rome!
Meanwhile it’s been a bit less humid than usual in the city
and we have had only one official heatwave.
(That’s when it goes over 90 for three days in a row.)
If you are wondering how global warming will affect water lilies it looks like they will be ok as they flourish in temperate and tropical climates.
They are also bisexual. So they can pollinate themselves and each other.
How trendy!
