Mykonos

In 1987, Edward and I got married.

We honeymooned in Greece.

More specifically, after visiting Athens we headed to Mykonos to take in the cute little white houses,

picturesque meandering alleys

and lively port.

We also visited the nude beach.

Recently I was watching a travel show filmed in Mykonos.  I was surprised to see that when they filmed Paradise Beach everyone was wearing bathing suits!

I checked it out online and apparently at some point in the past 30+ decades it became a textile beach.

I wonder how it transitioned.  Did someone just show up one day with suits on and force the nudists out?  Where did they go?  Farther afield?

Enquiring minds want to know. ; - )

Sunflowers 2

I am pleased to report that the sunflowers in the hood were glorious this summer.

I noticed that one had a sign indicating that it belonged to the school that it was in front of, and asking people not to help themselves.

It seems to have worked.

Perhaps we should try putting a sign on our tree pits.

Someone has been stealing our coleus all summer long.

It’s so weird.

I know that I’m not the only person enjoying the sunflowers because when I stop to take pictures people often comment that they too are fans.

But alas they have wrapped up for the year.

I wonder if they would be happy in our tree pits next year.

It might be worth a shot.

Embroidery: United Nations Butterfly

This embroidery began with a photo of the United Nations with flags waving.  It’s always a bit tricky photographing flags but I got some nice photos the day that I took this shot.

I decided to pair it with an Easter lily.

And this butterfly drawing.

I choose yellow and blue for the butterfly embroidery in honor of Ukraine.  I have ancestors from Kherson and Odessa, so I have been following the war closely and hoping for a positive outcome.  Fingers crossed.

Halloween in Narberth PA

As a Halloween lover, I really lucked out this year.  I got to see decorations in three states!  North Carolina, New York and Pennsylvania.

Awesome.

The only thing that would have been better would have been to go trick-or-treating in all three.  Something for the bucket list.😊

These pics are from Narberth, PA.

It’s adjacent to Merion – where my brother lives – but the houses are closer together so it’s a better Halloween destination.

It was particularly lovely because of the fall foliage.

Is this a disappointed Phillies fan?

I guess if you are going to convert an old church into your home, you are obligated to do an especially impressive decorating job.

There were a surprising amount of witches smashing into trees – we agreed that the sign made this one the best.  (Don’t text and fly)

And given the timing and location, there were a fair amount of Harris/Waltz signs.  I took it as a good omen.
