NYC Holiday 2024

I thought I’d get an early start on the holiday decorations this year, so I headed down to midtown to check them out this week.

They hadn’t lit the tree at Rockefeller Center yet, so I got to see all the preparations.

Cartier went spacy this year.

While they may not be new, this is the first year I noticed these giant candy canes on 6th Ave.

This pic of giant toy soldiers includes the Hilton – the UHC CEO shooting took place the following morning.

I couldn’t resist taking a reflection shot in one of the buttons of the Louis Vuitton luggage display.

With Saks pulling back on their decorations this year – Bergdorf’s windows were the stars.

Filled with all sorts of NYC goodies in beautiful colors.

But my favorite window by far was the Lego display of Rockefeller Center, complete with tree.  I wonder if they hire seasonal temps.

Happy Holidays!

Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade

Sadly, it rained on the parade this year.

You’ve got to love the irony.

We’re in the midst of our worst drought in 20 years and when it finally does rain it picks parade day.  Bummer.

But all was not lost.

I braved the mild temperatures and festive crowds the day before the parade and checked out the floats and balloons on Wednesday.

The set-up was very confusing.

And I never did figure out how to get to the front of the line to watch the balloons being blown up.

But watching the floats being built was delightful.

The crowd gave a big cheer when these guys accomplished their task and landed the pumpkin perfectly.

All in all, it was so awesome I may have to do it again next year – weather permitting of course. 😉

Here are some pics from the actual parade a few years ago…
