Construction
is going wild in Manhattan these days.
Everything
came to a screeching halt in 2008,
and
then started to pick up again slowly over the following years,
so
lots of new buildings have come on the scene in the past few years.
But
this wave is even more dramatic, and signs of old New York are disappearing
quickly.
Nowhere
is this more evident than in Hudson Yards.
What
surprises me most about it is the density of the buildings.
In my
neighborhood we have some tall buildings and some short ones so you can still
see daylight even on the 7th floor.
But
what strikes me about Hudson Yards is that everyone will be looking into
someone else’s windows. What a drag.
Oh and
their showpiece “Vessel” is ugly from every angle. I don’t know what they were thinking.
Here
are two previous blogs about Hudson Yard…
Cheers!
