We went to the Met Breuer the other day to see the current
exhibit - Like Life: Sculpture, Color and
the Body.
It was the ugliest art I have ever seen.
I guess that’s what happens when you portray real
life.
There were pieces from many name artists. In fact, the Picasso drawings were among my
favorite pieces.
And this one from George Segal was interesting, although
they did not indicate whether he used his famous wrapping technique.
Edward is always into nudity, so he liked it better than I did. And some of the pieces were certainly
realistic.
When we walked into this room, Edward thought the male
figure was a real person and commented on how inappropriate it was for him to be
positioned where he was!
I am a sucker for mixed media, so I was quite taken with
this guy’s beard.
But my favorite piece was this rendition of sleeping beauty
because the model was Madame du Barry, one of Louis XV’s famous
mistresses.
If you want to catch the show, it runs until July 22, so
you still have time.
Cheers!
