This
is the companion piece to Joy which I posted on 8/4.
There's no doubt that the Japanese Garden at the Brooklyn
Botanic Garden is a place of peace and joy.
Therefore I was horrified when I read that a developer is seeking to
build large buildings directly across the street from the garden which would
block the sunlight and ruin it. How
selfish can you get?
I found myself thinking of the lyric from Joni Mitchell's
song Big Yellow Taxi - "they
paved paradise and put up a parking lot."
Sigh.
As usual the developers threw in a few market rate apartments
to try to trick people. What a
joke. It's so sad that NYC has allowed
builders to call the shots for as long as they have. Perhaps our next mayor will have some
balls. Or maybe it would be better if
she didn't ;-)
Send your complaints about Continuum Cos. plans to Laurie Cumbo NYC Majority Leader. Don't let these greedy people ruin it for the rest of us!!!
And Laurie if you happen to read this, New Yorkers are sick
of these 1% losers who are 100% liars.
Stand up to them and you will be our hero and possibly our next mayor or
senator too. :-)
Here's the link to Joy...
And here are some previous blogs from BBG in the spring...
Cheers!
