A
friend is heading for Egypt tonight and I am so jealous.
It's
such an amazing place.
I
can't believe that it has been almost two decades since we visited. And yet I can still see it so clearly.
Edward
was stunned by the size of the temples because the only temple he knew about
was the Temple of Dendur in The Met.
It's a
little building compact enough to fit into a room in the museum so it leaves
you totally unprepared for the size of the real temples.
In particular
Karnak. Look at the size of this pillar.
If you
sail up the Nile you get to see all kinds of temples
as
well as village life which is a throwback to times past.
And
don't forget the Cairo museum.
It is
filled with "wonderful things" to quote Howard Carter who discovered
King Tut's tomb. I am sure it will be a
trip to remember.
Here
are the previous Egypt blogs...
Enjoy!
