This
year is the 150th anniversary of The Met.
They
are planning on having a big celebration.
It was
supposed to start the end of March.
But
like everything else it is currently on hold while we wait out COVID-19 at
home.
But
eventually it will happen. In the
meantime I did take a quick visit at the beginning of March before it
closed.
The
drawing gallery - always one of my favorites - did not disappoint.
Of
course my eye was immediately drawn to this sweet little Rembrandt
etching. Sigh.
But I
also loved these modern motifs
and
this Celtic looking drawing.
But
hands down the biggest surprise and delight was this silhouette portrait of
George Washington done by Eleanor Custis, his adopted daughter.
Can't
wait to see what they have in store when they reopen.
Other
Met blogs...
Cheers!
