One day the edge of Manhattan will be completely surrounded by parks. You can thank Mayor Bloomberg.
When completed it will be a 32 mile loop that people can walk, ride and jog along.
Right now, the East River Park runs from 125th Street to 60th Street and it happens to be one of Edward's favorite places to walk.
There are four sections left to finish. Plans are proceeding for three.
The final one - past the UN - is in negotiations. I thought I had heard they had arranged a land trade of some kind.
Meanwhile work has begun on The East Midtown Greenway which will run from 53rd Street to 61st.
It is actually being built right on top of the East River.
In this photo you can see the pillars that will hold up the platform. Cool.
Right now it's a construction zone and a rather awesome one at that.
I mean to keep an eye on it as it progresses. ;-)
Cheers!
