Yesterday I took my first subway ride since March 11, 2020 and headed down to the Village to enjoy a nice warm day.
The traffic at the market in Union Square was light. But since it is too early for anything but leftover apples and carrots, most of the visitors were buying plants.
I overheard a woman admitting to the guy that she was with that she had bought more plants than she had planned to buy. He said - "Face it you're a plant junkie."
Yeah, I can relate to that.
If you were wondering how the experiment limiting cars on 14th Street is going. Here's your answer. Ah yes, the joy of unintended consequences.
Then I went down to Washington Square Park, where there wasn't a whole lot of mask wearing and social distancing going on. Sigh.
But when you have only 10 acres and lots of people who have been locked in their tiny houses for months, what can you expect?
Still, I don't recall ever seeing the park this overcrowded before.
And the seating at Stonewall is even tighter on space.
But this busker found the perfect spot to be safe - on an island in the middle of the street. :-)
