Now that I no longer ski, I don't root for snow in the winter as much as I used to.
But I do like one really good snow day a season so I can walk over to Central Park and take photos.
I've been doing it for decades so I have lots of pics in all different types of snow conditions.
When I was younger I even went over as early as 7 am so I could photograph the popular places without people in them. These days I am a bit lazier. ;-)
Ideally the snow will be significant - at least 6 inches, and will be wet enough to stick to the trees.
That doesn't happen too often.
As long as the snow is sticking to the branches it doesn't really matter if the skies are grey or blue, the park will be gorgeous.
Mostly the sky is grey though, so it's a real treat when it is as blue as it was on January 7th, with the occasional picturesque cloud of course.
As I told a fellow photographer in the park - it was a top 10 day.
If the weather gods are listening, next time I would like ice covered branches that glisten in the sunlight. :-)
