Flowering Trees

I have to admit that while I am a big fan of trees that flower in the spring, I don't know which ones are cherries and which ones are apples.  


 

Given the wide range of colors and shapes that each come in it's hard to tell.  


I generally just think of them as whites and pinks.  


Today I am sharing pics of white ones.  ;-)


 

Interestingly apple blossoms are used in traditional Chinese medicine.  And you can make jelly from them.  Apparently they are high in antioxidants. 


I think most of the trees on the streets of Manhattan are crabapples.  


But of course the parks have lots of varieties.  

Here's one from Riverside Park.


And, this variety is from the conservancy gardens at 105th Street in Central Park.


We're just about wrapped up for the year.  Time to look forward to roses.
